This situation gave the reason for induction of Poles living in those areas to the German army. Many of those who were inducted that way to the German troops later fell into Western Allies captivity and finally joined Polish Armed Forces in the West.

The article mostly considers the genesis of the casus itself but also the origins and quality of information that London’s authorities had in scope of Poles’ service in German troops during WWII. The emphasis was placed on the scale of this phenomenon as well as on Poles’ service in Waffen SS that is often left out in Polish studies.
}, number={4}, journal={Argumenta Historica.
