Celem artykułu jest analiza wewnątrzkontynentalnych przepływów bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych w Afryce oraz próba określenia ich specyficznych cech na tle inwestycji bezpośrednich napływających spoza kontynentu. W badaniach obejmujących lata 2001–2013 uwzględniono wielkość inwestycji oraz ich strukturę geograficzną i branżową. Przeprowadzona analiza dowodzi, iż w ostatnich latach wewnątrzafrykańskie BIZ charakteryzowała dynamiczna tendencja wzrostowa. Inwestycje te cechował bardzo wysoki stopień koncentracji zarówno po stronie państw – inwestorów, jak i krajów goszczących, natomiast główne sektory lokat stanowiły usługi i przetwórstwo przemysłowe. Badania wskazują na odmienne preferencje i wzorce inwestowania firm afrykańskich w porównaniu z inwestorami spoza kontynentu.
