Medialna wielozadaniowość – specyfika konstruktu i ujęcie międzykulturowe

Abstrakt

Rosnące znaczenie Internetu w życiu codziennym, korzystanie z wielu źródeł danych oraz konieczność szybkiego przetwarzania informacji coraz częściej skłaniają przedstawicieli nauk społecznych do podjęcia próby opisu i zbadania medialnej wielozadaniowości (media multitasking) [Castells, 2007; Rosa, 2013; Ophir, Nass, Wagner, 2009]. Medialna wielozadaniowość rodzi ciągłe pytania o jej skutki poznawcze i społeczne oraz o narzędzia badawcze, które pozwolą ją zdefiniować. Celem artykułu jest przegląd dotychczasowych wyników badań z zakresu medialnej wielozadaniowości ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem różnic indywidualnych i międzykulturowych. Niniejsza analiza, w tym analiza własnych badań empirycznych za pomocą kwestionariusza medialnej wielozadaniowości, pokazuje istotne różnice między kobietami a mężczyznami w korzystaniu z kilku mediów równocześnie. Ważnymi zmiennymi okazują się również wiek i kraj zamieszkania. Różnice te zależą także od typu mediów przetwarzanych w danym czasie.
