Abstract

Diversification strategy is described in the literature of the subject as the most radical as well as dominant direction of development of the organization. More often than not, representatives of scientific environment and business world criticizes diversification potential and capacity to create value for company. So that, diversification strategy has been still incomprehensible category. Therefore there appears the need to provide knowledge of this field because it could be helpful for business and also effectively by the world applied, knowledge of diversification must be understanding.

Views on the diversification strategy evolved throughout the years. In emerging school of strategic thinking assumed different premises so that is why character of diversification strategy also changed.

The paper discusses the concept of strategy diversification in the Planning School. The author of the present papers focus on the most important issues, which affected the creation of the diversification strategy in the planning approach. This point of view explains how diversification strategy was understood in the years 1950–1970. A literature review in this field is a part of the research process for the doctoral dissertation entitled "Diversification strategy in a resource-based view".
