Abstract

In this paper the author takes up some significant aspects of the career of Zbigniew Brzezinski. Using Justin Vaisse’s recent biography as his point of departure, Pienkos evaluates Brzezinski’s place in American and Polish political history. He then discusses his contributions as an academic specialist on Cold War Soviet and East European affairs, as an influential figure in American foreign policy, and as a publicspirited activist on international political issues. He goes on to look at his relationship with the Polish ethnic community in America and his concern for Poland.
