Reflections on the centenary of Marx’s death
Keywords:
suffering, Karl Marx, physical pain, happiness, man,, deathAbstract
The hundredth anniversary of Karl Marx's death is for the author of the article a contribution to reflection on the issue of death and suffering, about which Marx speaks unofficially, e.g. in his personal correspondence with Frederick Engels. Marx claimed that the essence of philosophy is the spirit, philosophy speaks of religious and philosophical matters in a different way than it is done in everyday life by referring to transcendence. In the nineteenth century, suffering was primarily a social problem, and as such, as Marx argued, it could not be solved by individualist philosophies.
The article not only defines and classifies the concept of suffering, but also shows the subsequent stages of thinking about suffering from the perspective of the views of such philosophers as Boethius, Voltaire, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Artur Schopenhauer and Karl Marx.
