Abstract

In the years leading up to the outbreak of World War I, Roman Dmowski was often accused of being conciliatory towards the Russian Empire, which was related to a current dispute, in which Dmowski took a position in favor of Russia and its allies in the upcoming conflict with the Central Powers. The political opponents of the National Democrats took advantage of this fact and attempted to limit the influence of the national camp in Polish society. Evidence of such actions can be seen in the propaganda campaign that aimed to pin on Dmowski and his associates the label of Muscovites.
