Abstrakt

In the interwar period Vistula was the main watersport area in Warsaw. Between 1927–1929 there was a noticeable outgrow of sporting facilities by the river. Marinas were built mostly in the city centre. Their technical condition and equipment varied. In the thirties the municipal authorities were planning to relocate the seats of the rowing clubs to special regatta courses. Their construction had not been accomplished before the outbreak of the WWII. Before 1939 Vistula was also the main swimming area. In 1944 all Warsaw marinas were destroyed. After the war their reconstruction was desisted.
