Olympic Games in Berlin 1936 in “Przegląd Sportowy” in 1932–1936

Abstract

The text concerns the presentation of the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 in “Przegląd Sportowy”. It focuses on the analysis of articles about the event in terms of the political aspects they raise. The author investigates whether the newspaper reported on the policy of discriminating against Jews by the Nazi authorities, and if so, what was its attitude towards these practices. Having read articles from over 500 issues of “Przeglad Sportowy”, the author reconstructs the newspaper’s attitude towards the organizers of the Olympic Games in Berlin, and puts forward theses regarding the causes of it.
