The aim of the article is to present the religiosity of the Zamość patrician Bazyli Rudomicz (ca. 1620–1672) and to compare it with examples of bourgeois religious practices typical of the era, attitude towards dissenters and the worldview shaped by religion. Based on the diary written by Rudomicz in the years 1656–1672, the religious practices undertaken by him were discussed, such as prayer and sacraments, participation in pilgrimages and religious ceremonies, as well as the attitudes he adopted towards death, miraculous healings, superstitions and magic. Manifestations of piety that were unusual for the period included Rudomicz’s conscious development of religious knowledge through reading or the recitation of the breviary, requiring proper preparation. The analysis of Rudomicz’s religiosity may be a starting point for further research on the piety of the townspeople, especially the educated elite.
