Zależności między europocentryzmem a globalizacją

Abstrakt

In the following paper the interdependencies between eurocentrism and globalization have been pointed out; both phenomena have been defined. The European dominance, which started in the 16th century, revealed itself in a few aspects, including political, economic, military and cultural. It resulted with the emergence of the eurocentrism concept, which was an ideology that largely influenced the European state of consciousness and the attitude towards the rest of the world based on the feeling of cultural and civilization superiority. The fundamental withdrawal from the Eurocentric concept occurred in the middle of the 20th century under the influence of anti-colonial movements, which resulted in decolonization. However, the European civilization still largely influenced non-European areas, while Europe's position was gradually weakening in the global relations. It was ascertained that the contemporarily observed manifestations of unification coexisting with phenomena of globalization, which is a multi-meaning term characterizing the contemporary state of social relations in their international dimensions and their universalization, with the exception of the creation of conditions fostering the emergence of the uniform system of values. Seeking the relations between eurocentrism and globalization, one may assume that the globalization processes are not a sign of the reality of the 20th and 21st centuries, because the formation of various connections in the world scale accompanied the development of international relations, only gaining larger scale and reach nowadays. The effect of the world expansion of the West connected with the interpénétration of the influences of the different cultures from the particular civilization areas, as well as the emergence of eurocentrism ideology and European world dominance, as well as the consequences of the dominance fostered the mutual implications of Eurocentrism and globalization.
