The journal PROGRESS is a semi-annual journal published as an open access journal by the University of Gdansk since 2017. Open access means that all content is made available free of charge, at no cost to the user or his or her institution. Users may read, download, copy, link, print, search, or post links to full articles, as well as to other legally binding electronic documents, without prior consents from the publisher or author. The adopted formula is consistent with the definition of open access included in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). The authors of submitted texts also retain full copyright and publishing rights to their articles.

The journal aims to bring together both young scientists and authorities from various disciplines, not only theoreticians but also those whose research will find a practical application.

Topics discussed in the journal concern interdisciplinary developments in the social sciences and humanities in the development of a broadly understood society and its various dimensions and contexts. The editors accept for publication original scholarly papers, but in justified cases also publish texts in the form of reviews, conference reports and commissioned memoirs and interviews.

The journal also has an international character and invites researchers from around the world and various academic disciplines to publish. Special thematic issues are often devoted to specific, dynamically emerging scientific issues, and guest editors assist in the editorial process.
