The text focuses the attention on one of the less popular French philosophers - Lucien Lévy-Bruhl. It elaborates his unique project of social sciences as practical ethics presented in „La Morale et la sciences des moeurs” in 1903. In this book, he argues that the social scholar’s roles are as seculra guardians and exponents of moral changes. This scientism and positivistic ideology have been used to reinforce newly conceived Durkheimian sociology and were closely related to the educational policy of the French Third Republic.
