Abstract

The study focused on analyzing two board games, Terra Futura and Brass: Lancashire. We examined them in terms of their approach to ecology and the impact they have on human decisions and attitudes. We utilized procedural rhetoric to understand how they communicate values and beliefs, influencing players’ emotions and choices. Terra Futura, as a pro-ecological game, promotes sustainable development and highlights the negative consequences of anti-ecological actions, while Brass: Lancashire, at first glance, appears to encourage exploitation; however, upon closer analysis, an alternative interpretation is possible, showing a different path to success through player perseverance and cooperation. Our study demonstrates that board games can be practical tools for shaping social attitudes and promoting ecological awareness. They inspire players to make more conscious and responsible decisions in their daily lives.
