Abstract

Crises are an integral part of economy. In the era of globalization and regionalization the world economy is particularly vulnerable to the occurrence and transmission of financial crises. The Great Depression is often compared to the Great Recession. Banking sector is one of the most important in global economy. Banking resolution is getting more popular recently. The origins of banking resolution are in 1930s, in the United States of America. FDIC was established in 1933 in response to bank failures. FDIC provided deposit insurance to banks. Nowadays, banking resolution contains also bridge bank, OBA and P & A. The role of banking resolution is changing. BCBS develops international regulatory capital standards. Basel III is a comprehensive set of reform measures, developed by the BCBS, to strengthen the regulation, supervision, and risk management of the banking sector. The measures include both liquidity and capital reforms.
