The sector of small and medium – sized enterprises on the public procurement market in the European Union

Abstract

Public procurement in the countries of the European Union to become a very important market in their economies. The purpose of this article is to analyze the public contracts procurement market, between 2004 and 2014. By using these tests, the author presented a valuable trend of the overall market but still strongly differed from the value of participation in the global economy. As a result of this significant difference the presence of SMEs in public procurement and their participation in the economy are numerous barriers and restrictions on public procurement market. As a result, small and medium-sized enterprises carry out little public procurement with a high value. The direction of the contracting activities and legislators should aspire to reduce existing barriers.
