The article depicts the container shipping market model and changes that constantly occur. In connection with a rising demand for container carriage, shipping lines establish alliances and introduce new services, like Maersk in case of the direct connection from China to Poland, which influence market structural changes for both: shipping lines and container terminals. Therefore, from a oligopolistic market a monopolistic structure has emerged. In the light of permanent competition it is possible to describe such effects as well as further activities by the theory of games, which proves that the decisions made by participants are interdependent.
