The article concerns the topic of Islamic credit cards which are a new product in the portfolio of Islamic banks and financial institutions. The author describes the principles defining the product, including the prohibition of riba, five types of contracts, restrictions in transactions as well as the obligation of margin deposit. The analysis is done in comparison with conventional credit cards. The second part of the article presents examples of Islamic credit cards from Malaysia, North America and two countries of the Arabic Gulf.
