Benefits of implementing a tool rationalizing operating processes of a distribution center

Abstract

The paper presents the operation and benefits of a tool supporting optimal processes related to the creation of a distribution center map for a company from the FMCG industry (due to the confidentiality of data, the name of the company is not disclosed). The solution was developed by a design team dedicated to the plantʹs requirements. It is characterized by a high level of complexity, ensuring the automation of the process of determining the distribution of goods in the distribution center. There is a visible reduction in the necessary commitment on the part of the person responsible for the distribution of goods at individual storage locations in the distribution center. Although the tool was created with a specific enterprise in mind, it is worth analyzing the possibilities of implementing automatic tools mapping a distribution center in other enterprises. This solution can contribute to overall time savings, reduction of warehouse costs, as well as optimization of the use of warehouse space.
