Reviewing procedure

The review procedure adopted in the quarterly "Issues in Early Education" is in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The rule of double-blind review process applies.
The editors of "Issues in Early Education" send articles for review, which are consistent with the profile of the magazine and meet the conditions specified in the ethical rules and information for authors.

Each of the submitted articles is formally evaluated by the editors, who, when deciding whether to accept or reject the text, take into account the convergence of the subject matter with the general profile of the journal and compliance with the basic standards of the scientific article.

The text is then subject to an anonymous review by two independent reviewers. The reviewers:

  • are selected solely for their competence to review a particular text,
  • are not members of the editorial team,
  • are not employed in the same institution where the Author is affiliated,
  • do not have a conflict of interest with the Author.

The texts are reviewed in accordance with the ethical rules of the journal.

In the case of quantitative research, the quality of statistical analyses is assessed by the statistical editor. A written review shall include a justification for the assessment, suggestions for amendments, and an unambiguous reviewer's conclusion concerning the conditions for accepting or rejecting a scientific article for publication.
The assessment of articles as to their merits is carried out on the basis of the following criteria:

  • originality of problems and theses,
  • compliance with current scientific knowledge,
  • research or theoretical value,
  • clarity of the exposition and text structure,
  • accuracy of the title and keyword selection,
  • literature selection,
  • compatibility with the profile of the magazine.

The author is informed about the outcome of the reviewing procedure and has the possibility of correspondence with the editorial staff on possible reviewers' comments:

  • may change the submitted article and resend it to the editor,
  • if he or she does not accept all the comments of the reviewers and editors, he or she should attach a short explanation of his or her decision

The final decision to print shall be made by the IEE Editorial Board and the author will be informed about it.
The Editorial Board will archive the electronic version of all submitted texts, including those that have not been published, and their reviews.
