Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text has not yet been published anywhere and is not being considered for publication in another journal.
  • The text saved in Microsoft Word.
  • The text meets the requirements described in the authors' guidelines.
  • The text is accompanied by a royalty-free works licence agreement with the right to grant a CC sub-licence (available under Information for Authors)

Authors who intend to publish their article in "Problems of Early Childhood Education" should submit it via the UG University Scientific Journals Platform: https://czasopisma.bg.ug.edu.pl/index.php/pwe/about/submissions.

In exceptional cases, the Editorial Board can be contacted by email: czasopismopwe@gmail.com

Both in the e-mail with the attached article, and in the article itself, the following information about the author should be given:

  • name and surname of the author(s) and for each of them:
  • degree and title,
  • the ORCID number,
  • affiliation (university, institute, department),
  • e-mail address, contact phone.

The submitted article should be accompanied by:

  • agreement concerning providing a free-of-charge license to works with the right to issue a Creative Commons sublicense (download file). A declaration signed by all the authors of an article (scanned document) should be sent to the editorial office's e-mail address: czasopismopwe@gmail.com.

  • in separate files: the tables, drawings, and photographs included in the article
  • The submitted article must be accompanied by a scan of the completed ‘Statement of Sources of Research Funding’, this should be sent to the editorial address: czasopismopwe@gmail.com.

Before sending their texts to the editorial office of "Issues in Early Education" we encourage authors to read articles on issues similar to those that have already been published in our journal.


The texts sent to the editorial office of "Issues in Early Education" are subject to a review procedure, described in detail in the Review Procedure tab.

Editorial requirements

We accept articles in text formats only. Graphs, tables, photos, and figures should be included in the text and sent as separate files. The maximum volume of the whole text (with abstracts and bibliography) cannot exceed 40 thousand characters (with spaces). The following editorial guidelines should be taken into account:

  • text - Times New Roman 12 font, interline 1.5; standard margins,
  • the introduction to the text should include a summary (max. 200 words including the title) in English and key words (max. 5) in Polish and English,
  • bibliographic footnotes to be included in the text of the article (American style), consisting of the author's surname, year of publication, and the page of the cited publication after a colon, enclosed in brackets, e.g. (Kowalski 2006: 32),
  • when two publications by the same author published in the same year are cited, write: (Kowalski 2006a; Kowalski 2006b),
  • when quoting the work of two authors, put the surnames of both of them separated by a comma, e.g. (Piotrowski, Kowalski 2007). If there are three or more authors, give the first surname and add "et al.", e.g. (Mills et al. 2006),
  • footnotes, including comments and additions to the text should be kept to an absolute minimum. They must be placed at the bottom of the page and numbered consecutively,
  • photographs in the text should include the numbering and sources. Additionally, the author of the article should attach his or her consent for their publication in the journal. The paper version of IEE contains black and white photographs,
  • all publications referred to in the text should be included in the bibliography added at the end of the article, in alphabetical order, in accordance with the formula given below.

For books, the bibliographical address must include:

  • surname, initials, year of publication in semi-circular brackets, title of the work in italics, place of publication after the dot, place of publication after the comma, e.g.
    Bruner J.S. (2006), Kultura edukacji. Kraków, Universitas.
    Torrance E.P. (1995), Why fly? A philosophy of creativity. Norwood, Ablex Publishing.

  • in the case of an article from a journal, the bibliographic description must include: the author's surname, initials, year of publication in semi-circular brackets, title of the article, title and number of the journal, e.g.
    Melosik Z. (2008), Edukacja merytokratyczna i społeczne konstrukcje sukcesu życiowego. „Problemy Wczesnej Edukacji”, 1(7).
    Corbin J.M. (1998), Alternative interpretations: Valid or not? „Theory and Psychology”, 8(1).
  • the description of an article from the web page must include: the author's name and title, internet address, date of access, e.g.
    Gilliard D., Education in England: a brief history. http://www.educationengland.org.uk/history/chapterll.html, 07.04.2011.

The journal does not charge authors any fees for the procedure of accepting and publishing texts.

Licence

The person publishing the text in Problemy Wczesnej Edukacji agrees to the work being made available by the University of Gdańsk under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence, the full text of which is available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode.

The person submitting the text is authorised by the other co-authors to represent them (he/she is the correspondent author) of the submitted ‘work’ and declares that he/she holds the copyright in the work, which is not restricted in the scope of this declaration.

The work is an original work and does not infringe the copyright of others nor is it restricted by rights in favour of third parties.

The work has not previously been published under the same or a different title, nor is it part of another publication. The work is not currently under investigation by another publisher or editor.

The person submitting a work for publication in the journal Problems of Early Childhood Education confirms that:

1. The work has been prepared in accordance with the editorial policies of the journal Problems of Early Childhood Education.
2. The work contains information about the sources of funding for the research that formed the basis of the work.
3. Agrees to submit the work for double review, on the basis of which the editors of the journal Problems of Early Childhood Education will decide whether to accept the work for publication or reject it.

4. Agrees that the editors of Problems of Early Childhood Education may make any necessary changes to the work resulting from the editorial development.
5. He/she undertakes to make author's corrections to the work without delay, after it has been accepted by the editorial board of the journal. Failure to make author's corrections within 14 days from the date of receipt of the materials will be treated as consent to the publication of the work in the form submitted for correction.
6. The submitter retains unlimited copyright and at the same time grants the University of Gdańsk an unlimited (territorially and temporally) and royalty-free non-exclusive licence to use the work, subject to its acceptance for publication in the journal Problems of Early Education, in the following fields of exploitation:

I. Recording, multiplication and production of copies of the work by printing, reprography, magnetic recording and digital and electronic recording techniques

II. Trading in the original or copies on which the work has been recorded: marketing, sale, lending or leasing of the original or copies, public display, screening, as well as making the work available to the public in such a way that everyone can have access to it at a place and time individually chosen by them, including the Internet.

III. Incorporation of a work into a collective work.

IV. Translation into other languages and distribution of these translations.
