The book Constructing Knowledge at School was awarded the Prize of the Minister of Education and Sport and the Władysław Spasowski Prize of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

In the years 1994-2002 she founded and ran the experimental "Żak" Primary School in Olsztyn which was based on educational constructivism. For many years she has been an elected member of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where she also served as a vice-president.
