Bruno Schulz w Czechach, rozmowa z Hanele Palikovą i Janem Jeništą
Abstrakt
In an interview concerning the Czech edition of Schulz’s Book of Letters, published in 2021 by Protimluv Press, the translator Hanele Palková and the editor of the volume Jan Jeništa told Magdalena Wasąg about their work, translation problems, their reading of Schulz’s prose, and the significance of his correspondence. Palková and Jeništa provided the Polish reader with information about translating Schulz into Czech since 1963. They put forward original hypotheses concerning Schulz’s place in the Czech culture, connecting with such writers as Kafka and Hrabal, as well as the Group 42. Palková mentioned Hrabal’s oft-quoted confession that of all the poets of the 20th century he loved Apollinaire and Schulz.
