Abstrakt

In May 2023, Bruno Schulz’s collection of short stories Sklepy cynamonowe, translated into Vietnamese, was published for the first time. But that was not the first time when Vietnamese readers heard of the 20th century Polish writer, read him and saw his drawings. The book version was preceded by several translations of particular stories, scattered on literary portals. It can be said that the release of Sklepy cynamonowe in Vietnamese was a long-awaited event, with a warm welcome in Vietnam. The article, therefore, is an at- tempt to akcnowledge Schulz’s presence in the virtual space and on the book market and to study the reception of his works in Vietnam. Schulz became known to Vietnamese readers relatively late in relation to other Polish authors, who are mainly Nobel Prize winners. Now the Vietnamese are already beginning to associate Polish literature with Schulz’s uniquely and remarkably poetic, intricate, and mysterious language and world.
