The article attempts to explore the reception of Bruno Schulz’s works in Chinese translations. The author examines in detail the chronological release of Schulz’s translations in China and Taiwan, starting from the stories that were translated from English. Additionally, the article considers the reception by both contemporary Chinese writers, such as Yu Hua and Can Xue, as well as by general readers without literary backgrounds, using data from Chinese reading platforms like Douban and Xiaohongshu. The article also presents the literary experiment of the Chinese poet Hei Tao, who created a new artistic work by composing poems from fragments of Schulz’s prose.
