In the article, the author argues that Prabowo Subianto, the new president of Indonesia, despite his military past during the Suharto regime, despite human rights violations and authoritarian disposition, will not introduce a significant breakthrough in the democratic regression in Indonesia. The weakening of democracy in this country is a process that has been ongoing almost since the beginning of the 21st century. The author points out that many undemocratic solutions, as well as an undemocratic style of management, have been somewhat normalized by the current president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Thus, Prabowo Subianto is only the closing of the process of autocratization of democracy in Indonesia.
