The European research on the background of the general development trends of science

Abstract

The following paper indicates, that European Studies as a scientific discipline exists in emerging reality in search for its identity. Its main object of cognition are civilization and cultural phenomena and processes that occur in European space, with particular emphasis on contemporary integration. This discipline implements cognitive methods and techniques typical for humanities and social studies. From the holistic perspective, the intellectual reflection plays here a prominent role. It provokes debates among the other scientific disciplines, particularly those oriented towards analytic and experimental studies.
