REIT ETF market in the United States and Polish REIT ETF market development perspectives

Abstract

Real Estate Investment Trust and Exchange Traded Fund are products with various characteristics. Their combination creates a unique fund which is REIT ETF. Such a solution found its supporters in the United States, which was reflected in both the number of funds managed and the value of managed capital. Not without significance is the fact that from October till December 2019 the rate of return was not satisfactory compared to competing sectoral funds. Unlike the US market, both ETF and REIT are not as popular in Poland. Polish investment fund sector is incomparably younger and less developed than in the United States. However, the development of local financial institutions and ETFs give hope for the creation of such products in the future.
