Abstrakt

Piotr Szulkin was one of the most distinctive figures in Polish cinema, known for combining dystopian imagery with irony and the grotesque in allegorical portrayals of Polish society. Between 1979 and 1986, he directed his so-called apocalyptic tetralogy, concluding with Ga, ga. Glory to the Heroes (1986). Despite being the final instalment of the cycle, the film has received comparatively limited attention in film criticism and scholarship. This article examines the reception of Ga, ga. Glory to the Heroes over the years and traces key trends in its critical evaluation and interpretation.
