Abstract

In October 2019 a full Greek translation of the complete fiction of Bruno Schulz was finally published under the title Άπαντα τα πεζά (Collected Fiction). The translator is Alexandra Ioannidou, professor of Slavic studies at the Macedon University in Thessaloniki. Her version of The Cinnamon Shops is radically different from the previous fragmentary versions of Spiros Tsaknias and Dimitris Houliarakis. One may responsibly claim that Professor Ioannidou did an exceptionally good job. Schulz’s stories are now fully available in Greek, and the Greek text effectively conveys the author’s intentions and the aura of this fiction; its stylistic and linguistic quality.
