Problematic derivatives in Polish religious vocabulary (based on the questions addressed to the Internet linguistic clinics)

Abstract

The author analyses problems concerning derivatives which were described on the websites of different Polish linguistic clinics, as well as the probable reasons for those difficulties. Doubts rarely concern neologies. The analysis shows that orthoepic doubts are the result of the following problems: (1) the word cannot be found in any dictionary; (2) the word differs from the regular (predicted) form; (3) there is a phonetic difference between the derivate and its base; (4) a derivate has an unclear motivation and therefore its meaning seems incomprehensible.
