Beatyfikacja Jana Pawła II w recepcji prasy rosyjskiej
Abstrakt
On the basis of the texts excerpted from high-circulation Russian dailies, such as: Izvestia (Iteeecmux), Komsomolskava Pravda (KoMCOMOJibCKax npaeda), Moskovskvi Komsomolec {MOCKOBCKUU KOMCOMOJieif), Rossivskava Gazeta (PoccuucKan za3ema), Nezavisimaya Gazeta (He3aeuciman zaaema), Trud (Tpvd) and Kommersant (/{amiepcaimih). the author reconstructs an image of the beatification of Pope John Paul II. She pays special attention to the fact that the ceremony is perceived as an event important to the international community, and its political dimension is emphasised, while its confessional aspect is diminished. The author remarks that the attention of the press is directed mainly to the external manifestations of the ceremony. An important element of the reconstructed image is a special profile of Pope John Paul II presented in categories of his exceptional features: the pope is portrayed as a record-holder and an idol of the masses.
