Dream-based diagnosis of the psyche

Abstract

The domains of dreams and imagination are close to one another. This article discusses if it is possible to identify real psychological traits on the basis of dreams. The following dream theories are discussed: classical psychoanalytical theory, Carl Jung’s analytical psychology, Alfred Adler’s individual psychology, and the cognitive theories of Aaron Beck and Harold Doweiko. Their presentation is supplemented with neuropsychological and chronobiological approaches.
