On Their Way to Manhood: Boys in Single-Sex Schools

Abstract

This articles is an exploration of the ways in which single sex schools structure the norms of masculinity: how participation in single sex schooling may serve as a masculinizing practice – a practice that helps shape, reinforce and validate the constructions of certain versions of masculinity – and how boys construct identities that are consonant with this practice.
