Abstract

This paper presents a summary of the national academic conference “Imagineering. Transport from an Anthropological Perspective” held on September 26–27, 2024, in Gdańsk, Poland. The conference, organized by the Institute of Anthropology at the University of Gdańsk (Instytut Antropologii Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego) and the Polish Folklore Society – Gdańsk branch (Polskie Towarzystwo Ludoznawcze oddział Gdańsk), aimed to explore the anthropological dimensions of transport (pl. lokomocja) understood as a technological aspect of movement. Central to the discussions was the intersection of socio-cultural imaginaries and technology, encapsulated in the neologism imagineering – a synthesis of imagination and engineering.
