Abstract

The author deals with changes in the demographic situation in Europe over the last six hundred years. He indicates the importance of the bull of Innocent VIII for overcoming the demographic collapse in the 15th century. Describes the political and economic consequences of high population growth in modern times. He compares contemporary demographic trends in the countries of the Middle East and Africa with those in the Western world and indicates the consequences of this state of affairs for contemporary and future Europe.
