Osoby z zaburzeniami ze spektrum autyzmu (ASD) doświadczają wielu problemów w codziennym funkcjonowaniu. Nietolerancja niepewności może stanowić jeden z czynników ryzyka warunkujących wystąpienie zachowań trudnych w warunkach niepewności, jednakże niewiele rodzimych badań odnosi się do tego problemu. Zrozumienie mechanizmów leżących u podstaw problemów behawioralnych osób z ASD jest kluczowe dla opracowania efektywnych metod interwencji terapeutycznych. Celem prowadzonych eksploracji jest poznanie doświadczeń matek i ich opinii dotyczących związków nietolerancji niepewności z problemami behawioralnymi u osób z ASD. W badaniu uczestniczyło 6 matek wychowujących dzieci z autyzmem. Dla realizacji postawionego celu badawczego przyjęto jakościową strategię badań z wykorzystaniem metody wywiadu jakościowego, a dane uzyskane w jego wyniku poddano interpretacyjnej analizie fenomenologicznej. Wnioski z prowadzonych analiz pozwalają przyjąć, że badane osoby w spektrum autyzmu cechują się nietolerancją niepewności, która w znaczący sposób oddziałuje na ich zachowanie w różnych sytuacjach życiowych a także na codzienność ich bliskich.
