Abstract

This review article discusses research on psychosocial challenges, supports, and resilience development in deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children. The inclusion of DHH children in mainstream schools, as well as the specific needs of parents and teachers, have been extensively studied in terms of their impact on children's well-being. Key research on the role of optimism, beliefs about overcoming difficulties and communication factors in developing adaptive skills is also presented. The results indicate that DHH children experience more psychosocial problems, but appropriate support, including adaptations of programs such as RESCUR, can positively impact their quality of life and the development of resilience. The article also presents the limitations of current research and directions for future scientific research.
