Pain is a common phenomenon. In diagnostics, it is an important warning signal, but it is also a clinical problem, especially chronic pain. For older people, the problem of persistent pain is particularly important. It adversely affects the way of functioning, participation in social and family life and reduces the quality of life. An important complicating factor is the multimorbidity and overlap of functional and functional disorders in older people. An additional problem is also a separate approach to the aspect of pain treatment or control in hospital wards, including intensive care units and long-term treatment centers. The paper presents the most important aspects regarding the specificity of diagnosis and methods of treating pain in the elderly.
