The text addresses the issue of motherhood among women who have children on the autism spectrum. The author, using the in-depth interview method, examines changes in the experience of motherhood, including self-assessment and subjective assessment of the quality of the relationship with the child in three mothers in the period from noticing the first symptoms of the child's neurodiverse development to providing specialist care after the formal diagnosis. The author shows factors supporting the process of moving from despair to acceptance and formulates a conclusion about the necessity of changes in the scope of social perception of the people with ASD as a necessary condition for supporting the positive experience of motherhood of a child with ASD.
