The article addresses the issues of psychosocial functioning of siblings of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. The objective of the present study was to explore the opportunities and challenges that accompany the development of this group. The research was grounded in a qualitative paradigm, employing the qualitative in-depth interview method. The present study sought to identify the impact of growing up in a family with a sibling on the autism spectrum on the development of the typically developing brother or sister. This was achieved through the analysis of personal documents of both the siblings and individuals with ASD, in addition to conducting interviews. The analysis of the findings yielded an answer to the question: what are the opportunities and challenges of the psychosocial development of siblings of individuals with ASD? The find ings indicated that these individuals encounter a range of developmental prospects and challenges, the nature of which in influenced by psychological and environmental factors. This underscores the imperative for compregensive support to be provided for this demographic.
