Abstrakt

The article focuses on the issue of film festival as a multidimensional social phenomenon crucial to economical organisation of the contemporary cinema, especially in Europe. The author describes history of film festivals and metaphors which highlight their functions. He elaborates the question of festival circulation as a form of distribution and positions of social actors involved in creating a film festival. The institution of a film festival is perceived as linked to the film market, reversed economy and regimes of taste in the contemporary culture.
