The editors reserve the right to make changes in the submitted articles and to return the articles to the authors in the event of failure to comply with the following arrangements.
Articles should be delivered as electronic files (CDs, or DVDs or e-mail - however, pictures may not be submitted by email and must be delivered on CDs or DVDs).
Each of the following must be saved as separate files:
A standard typescript page (i.e. a computer printout) contains 1800 characters including spaces. The length of an article and the number of illustrations used are determined by the editor for each article.
Commonly used abbreviations must be used. Italics should be used for commonly used foreign-language phrases, and for titles of paintings, films, sculptures, exhibitions, etc. Quotations as well the names of cinemas, theaters, ships, etc. should be highlighted with quotation marks. In the main text, the footnote numbering must be placed BEFORE the period ending the sentence.
Footnotes, both bibliographic and explanatory, should begin with a capital letter and end with a period. Multiple sources within a single footnote should be separated by a semicolon.
Books: author (name and surname), title in italics, name of the editor in case of collective publications preceded with ed./Hrsg./red., place and year of publishing, cited pages or illustrations.
E.g. Jan Wójcicki, Wolne Miasto Gdańsk, Warszawa 1976, s. 63.
Articles in collective publications: author (name and surname), title of the article in italics, letter “w” and colon in square brackets [w:] title of the whole publication in italics, name of the editor preceded with ed./Hrsg./red., place and year of publishing, cited pages or illustrations.
E.g. Michał Haisig, Gdańsk w monetach, medalach i pieczęciach, [w:] Gdańsk, jego dzieje i kultura, red. Franciszek Mamuszka, Warszawa 1969, s. 466.
Journals: author (name and surname), the title of the article in italics, journal’s title in quotation marks, year of publication, volume’s number, cited pages or illustrations.
E.g. Tadeusz Tomasz Głuszko, Dziurawa granica, „30 dni”, 2001, nr 7/8, s. 49.
Repetition of cited sources:
Citing a source that is already mentioned: author’s (name and surname), the first two significant words of the title in italics ended with a three-point, cited pages or illustrations.
E.g. Haisig, Gdańsk w monetach, s. 80.
Citing the same source as in the previous footnote: Ibidem, cited pages or illustrations.
When mentioning the same author in one footnote, we use idem (for men) or eadem (for women).
Archive source reference: name of the archive or library, name of the archive unit, reference number of the source, title of the source, page number (card), possibly recto (r.) or verso (v.) of the card.
E.g. Archiwum Państwowe w Gdańsku, Państwowy Urząd Policji Budowlanej w Gdańsku, sygn. akt 15/2759, Langgasse 57/58.
It is the author’s sole responsibility to obtain permission for publications. Porta Aurea, like other Polish scientific journals, cannot cover claims for reproduction copyrights due to a very limited budget.

The Porta Aurea journal is intended for readers interested in the history of art and architecture, and is thematically focused on the artistic problems of the broadly defined Baltic Region. This profiling is not exclusive, but means that texts on the art of Gdansk, or more broadly of the Tricity, Pomerania, northern Germany, the Baltic countries, and Scandinavia constitute the core of each volume.
