Real Socialism between imagination and reality. Political views of Günter Grass and the Polish context

Abstract

The output of Günter Grass is not only a fascinating introduction to the insight into his views, but first of all it is a tool for interpretation of reality and socio-political context. The writer in a sophisticated way analyzes the process of deformation and distortion of socialism in the Eastern Block and tries to reconstruct the authentic meaning of socialist ideas. The following article is a study of the political thought of Günter Grass with regard to the situational context of real socialism in Poland.
