Abstract

The following life story describes the path of a “classically” trained Germanist through the institutions towards modern linguistics. His experiences reflect the development of the Germanic Philology and linguistic subjects in recent decades and represent the enrichment that research and teaching have witnessed despite all the unpredictability and oddities.
