Abstract

The aim of the article is to verify the hypothesis regarding the creation of a new area of maritime economy – environmental maritime economy. The text indicates doctrinal, logical, but also normative premises for identifying a new area of maritime economy, which will be implemented in accordance with the principle of sustainable development, and which will contribute to the implementation of the latest economic concepts of the European Union. Focusing on the maritime economy is important because it is an area where very significant changes are taking place, related to the introduction and dissemination of new types of human activity at sea. This activity can be designed from the very beginning as an activity that takes into account the need to protect the environment, the consequence of which will be the reduction of anthropogenic pressure on the marine environment, which is already critically endangered by human impacts.
