Reviewing procedure

Miscellanea Anthropologica et Sociologica is a reviewed journal.

Editors use a double-blind review procedure (reviewers and authors do not know each other's identity).

After a preliminary review by the editor-in-chief, articles are sent to external reviewers.

If there is no consensus between reviewers, editors ask a third expert for a final review.

After receiving reviews with comments, they are sent to the author of the article.

When the article is accepted, the authors are asked to include reviewers’ suggestions.

The author who does not agree with the suggestions, is allowed to respond to the reviews. The response may be taken into account by the editor-in-chief and a third reviewer may be asked for consultation.

The final decision is taken by the editor-in-chief on the basis of the reviews.

All reviews as well as all articles are archived by the University of Gdansk Academic Scientific Journals.

To counteract “ghostwriting”  and “guest authorship”  we ask authors to:

  • reveal the contributions of all co-authors and co-researchers
  • indicate all quoted sources in references
  • sign a declaration of copyright which will be sent to the authors whose articles are accepted

Confirmed cases of plagiarism will be exposed by the editorial team to the institutions involved.
