Artykuł zawiera przemyślenia natury teoretycznej, poparte analizami danych zastanych, dotyczących ekspansji języka angielskiego jako strategii rządomyślności neoliberalnych elit politycznych. Można przyjąć, że klasy średnie i pracujące zaczynają uznawać znajomość języka angielskiego za warunek konieczny inkluzji społecznej w świecie globalnej gospodarki i globalnej nauki. Wykorzystując Kapitał w XXI wieku (Piketty 2015) zarysowano problematykę centrum i peryferii globalnej ekonomii i jej amerykańsko- -centrycznego oblicza oraz centrum i peryferii globalnej nauki i dominacji języka angielskiego w powszechnym obiegu badań i teorii naukowych. Dyskusja osadzona jest w nurcie teorii krytycznej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem prac Michela Foucaulta. Foucault kwestionuje to, jakimi uzasadnieniami dla swoich działań posługujemy się jako istoty racjonalne i pyta o zagrożenia płynące z naszej racjonalności, w tej dyskusji dotyczące nauki języka angielskiego.
