Me and Other. The unemployed in narratives about themselves

Abstract

The aim of the article is to conduct a explorative insight and reflection on the elements of narrative of the unemployed about themselves. The analysis of the empirical material allows basically to notice two patterns of perception of people without employment – positive (I-unemployed) and negative (Other-unemployed). In descriptions of both identities, the author notices certain “exclusion mechanisms” included in the strategy of exclusion by the excluded, which reflects society’s divisions like a mirror.
