The Potential Of The Usage Of Drones In Direct Transport
Keywords:
drones, direct transport, decarbonisationAbstract
This article constitutes a collection of the most important knowledge regarding the usage of drones in direct transport. It presents the genesis of the first machines of this type and the current ways of their use in various fields, not only related to military, but also to rescue, filming and transportation. It highlights the environmental aspect of including drones in last-mile deliveries, showing their lower emissions compared to other modes of transport. Basing on available press reports is aimed at making people aware that these machines are used more widely in some regions of the world than currently in Poland and proving that this implementation of such solutions is already becoming possible and profitable. In addition to the use of secondary sources, the article includes proposals to include drones in the implementation of part of direct transport deliveries. The aim of the study is to highlight the advantages of using unmanned aerial systems in the process of transporting shipments to the final recipients, and to show the harmfulness and negative impact of other means used for the transport of goods. The second intention is to show the potential of drones to improve deliveries, reduce their unit costs for companies and reduce their carbon footprint.
